Lincoln Park, Old Town Burglaries Lead to Police Warning

LINCOLN PARK — Police are asking Near North Siders to take extra precautions after a series of burglaries to hit Lincoln Park and Old Town in the last week, according to a community alert released Wednesday.

At least six times since Nov. 11, police said, someone broke into a home by breaking the glass in a window or door.

Most of the burglaries occurred in the late afternoon, the alert said.

Police said burglaries were reported in the following blocks:

• The 1500 block of North Wieland Avenue on Nov. 11

• Two burglaries in the 1800 block of North Dayton Avenue on Thursday

• The 1100 block of West Webster Avenue on Sunday

• The 2000 block of North Cleveland Avenue on Monday

• The 1800 block of North Cleveland Avenue on Monday

Police advised residents to report all suspicious activity and keep their homes securely locked.
