It's So Windy That a Lincoln Park Traffic Light Fell Down

LINCOLN PARK — It's so windy that a traffic light fell down in Lincoln Park.

An executive producer for NBC posted a photo on Twitter Thursday morning of a traffic light laying in the middle of the street near Adel's Hair Sensation Salon, 445 W. Diversey Ave.

According to Mike Claffey, spokesman for the city's department of transportation, the pole rusted at the base and fell due to high winds.

"Our crew is currently on location restoring the equipment," he said.

Wind gusts of 50-mph are expected to last through the day Thursday. The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for most of northern Illinois.

"There could be a few flurries [Friday] morning," Ben Deubelbeiss of the National Weather Service told DNAinfo Chicago. "The better chances for snow will be north of Chicago."
