BEVERLY — Three men have been arrested after burglarizing the AT&T Store at 9527 S. Western Ave. in Beverly, according to an email blast from Ald. Matt O'Shea (19th).

The alderman emailed his constituents Wednesday afternoon to say Michael Clark, of the 7400 block of South Normal Avenue in Englewood, and Joe Brown, of the 7500 block of West 63rd Place in Clearing, were arrested and charged with felony burglary.

Mario McCarter, of the 9200 block of South Blackstone Avenue in Calumet Heights, was also arrested and charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass, according to the alderman's office.

A Beverly resident in the 9500 block of South Claremont Avenue called 911 about 3 a.m. Tuesday after seeing the three men in a backyard. At the same time, a burglar alarm was activated at the AT&T Store, the alderman said.

"The Chicago Police Department responded to the scene in minutes to pursue and capture three individuals," O'Shea wrote in his email.

Stolen merchandise from the cellphone store was found in the backyard and the suspects' vehicle was also found.

The three men remain in custody awaiting bond hearings, and all have extensive criminal backgrounds, the email said.

O'Shea thanked the police in the Morgan Park District as well as the Area South Detective Division for their work on this case. He further promised to keep tabs on the incident as it moves through the courts.

"This incident provides another example of what can be accomplished when residents partner with law enforcement. I'd like to thank the individual who made the initial 911 call and urge everyone to call 911 if you see something suspicious," O'Shea wrote in the email.
