NORWOOD PARK — Stay ahead of the sniffy winter blues with a free flu shot courtesy of State Sen. John Mulroe (D-Jefferson Park) Monday in Norwood Park.

Mulroe, the chairman of the State Senate Public Health Committee, will offer flu vaccinations free of charge to residents of Illinois 10th State Senate District from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the Norwood Park fieldhouse, 5801 N. Natoma Ave.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, the influenza virus generally peaks in January and February and in serious cases can lead to hospitalization or even death.

The CDC recommends flu shots especially for the elderly and very young, who are most vulnerable to complications from the illness.

In addition, officials from State Treasurer Michael Frerichs' office will be on hand with about information about how residents can reclaim lost property through the iCash program.

To register for the event, call 773-763-3810 or email senatorjohnmulroe@att.net.
