NORTH PARK — Think you've got the Next Big Idea, but don't have the bank account to match it?

Northeastern Illinois University would like to give you $2,500 — the grand prize in the school's Soy Entrepreneur competition.

The contest, sponsored by the university's College of Business and Management, is free to enter and open to the public. Both new and existing business owners are encouraged to apply.

Simply submit your business plan, including a description of your product/service, marketing strategy and financial plan. (Click here for complete competition guidelines.) The deadline to enter is Nov. 6.

A panel of educators, entrepreneurs and business leaders will review the submissions. Five finalists will be chosen to present their plans in front of judges and a live audience on Nov. 20 at Northeastern's North Park campus, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave.

In addition to the $2,500 grand prize, the winner will receive mentoring from a member of the university's entrepreneurship faculty.
