LINCOLN SQUARE — Open House Chicago, the annual architecture festival, is like having an all-access backstage pass to 200 of the city's great places and spaces.

Eight Lincoln Square sites are taking part in the event Saturday and Sunday. We've got tips on how to make the most of this opportunity to get a peek inside some of the neighborhood's gems.

Wanna visit all eight sites in one day?

Seven of the sites are open both days but the Ravenswood Event Center, new to the tour, is only open Sunday.

Our handy map below plots the locations (in red), along with nearby public transportation and Divvy stations (in blue) to help you zoom from building to building.

Wanna be super efficient?

Most of the buildings will be open to visitors at 9 a.m. but some don't start welcoming guests until 1 p.m. All close at 5 p.m.

Here's a suggested route to minimize your time in transit: Our Lady of Lourdes to American Indian Center to Ravenswood Event Center to Old Town School of Folk Music (east and west) to Chicago Printmakers Collaborative to DANK Haus to Studio V Design (Krause Music Store).

Pressed for time?

Take a mini mural tour. The American Indian Center and Old Town School are both part of the Open House Chicago American Art Track.

The American Indian Center's murals represent "the American government’s complex history of moving people off reservations and into cities."

Old Town School's "The Children's World" mural was funded by the Works Progress Administration and "serves as an enduring symbol of public art and education advocacy in Chicago."

Want bragging rights?

The Chicago Printmakers Collaborative has traded one location on Western Avenue for another. The collaborative is officially celebrating the grand opening of its new home, 4912 N. Western Ave., on Oct. 30. You can get a look before everyone else during Open House Chicago.

Is it too late to get tickets?

Nope, because you don't need them. And you can leave your wallets at home, too. Admission is free.

Are photos allowed?

Yep. Photography is allowed at all Lincoln Square sites.

Is it OK to bring kids?

Sites are open to people of all ages. The Airstream — it's an RV on a roof! — is among the locations Open House Chicago has dubbed "family-friendly."

Have accessibility issues?

On the flipside, The Airstream is the lone Lincoln Square site that's not wheelchair accessible.
