RAVENSWOOOD — Mayor Rahm Emanuel's phone will be ringing off the hook Friday, and it won't be calls from his fellow mayors wishing the Cubs good luck.

Friends of Ravenswood School is setting up a phone bank during the school's annual walk-a-thon fundraiser, with a plan to flood the mayor and other officials with calls protesting special education budget cuts.

Under a formula Chicago Public Schools has yet to make public, a number of the district's schools are slated to lose special ed staff. Ravenswood received word last week that it would have to eliminate five special ed positions, which Principal Nate Manaen immediately appealed.

Members of the community are invited to swing by the phone bank and dial up the mayor, 1:30-2:45 p.m. Friday on the south playground of the school, 4332 N. Paulina St.
