NEAR WEST SIDE — Residents living in the Near West District's 1224 and 1231 police beat boundaries are encouraged to attend a local CAPS meeting Wednesday night.

The meeting, at the Chicago Police Training Academy, 1300 W. Jackson St., will kick off at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

There is free parking in the lot on the west side of the building.

Residents who live and work in the neighborhoods will have the opportunity to talk with police officers about suspicious activity and discuss any ongoing crime issues. Police leaders will give the latest updates on crime happening in the area, too.

The 1224 beat includes parts of the West Loop. The 1231 beat includes part of the West Loop, University Village, Little Italy and the Medical District.
