ROGERS PARK — A gang member from Auburn Gresham was arrested in Rogers Park after pulling a package of pot from his underwear as officers began questioning him about a pungent marijuana odor, Chicago Police said.

Officers working a Sept. 20 gang suppression mission on the Far North Side recognized Tyler Moore, 18, as both an admitted Gangster Disciple and the star of a recent rap video posted on YouTube, according to a report of the arrest.

Moore, who raps under the name King Ty, had published a video called “Shootaz," featuring a group of young men waiving around handguns and taunting rival gang members.

After spotting Moore from their squad car about 2:20 p.m., officers approached for an interview as he stood on North Ashland Avenue near the intersection at Jonquil Terrace.

When the officers asked why there was such a strong smell of marijuana, which seemed to be emanating from him, Moore simply stated, “I have some weed in my underwear,” according to police.

He then dug into his pants and produced a large bag holding four smaller bags of pot packaged for individual sale, according to police. Moore was arrested and charged with misdemeanor possession for the approximately five grams of marijuana in the bags, police said.
