GOLD COAST — Between browsing high-end furniture and decor at the city's new Restoration Hardware flagship, RH Chicago, shoppers can now also treat themselves to a Gold Coast-caliber meal while browsing, thanks to new openings inside the store from restaurateur Brendan Sodikoff.

Sodikoff's restaurant group Hogsalt, the masterminds behind hotspots like Au Cheval, Gilt Bar and Doughnut Vault, designed three eateries for the first of Restoration Hardware's six floors inside the 101-year-old landmarked Three Arts Building at 1300 N. Dearborn St., where renovations have been underway for two years.

The three-pronged dining options inside the 3 Arts Club Cafe include a small coffee shop ("pantry") with grab-and-go doughnuts, pastries and juices; a wine bar ("wine vault") with cheese boards and small plates; and a full restaurant with menu highlights like a bacon club with pickled green tomato and a grilled cheese made with truffle butter and Texas toast.

Rebecca Plotnick, a Gold Coast resident who works from home, made a visit Monday and Tuesday this week to what she now calls her favorite place to hang out in the neighborhood.

"It doesn't make it seem like it's all gray outside," Plotnick said at the pantry Tuesday morning.

On the store's upper five floors, refreshments will also be offered to guests as they wander beyond the restaurants, CEO Gary Friedman told Crain's Chicago BusinessGuests can also take wine they order downstairs up to the store's rooftop lounge.

In a pseudo-mission statement printed on 3 Arts Club's menus, the eatery promises to blur "the lines between residential and retail, home and hospitality, indoor and outdoor, integrating the decorative arts, culinary arts and contemporary arts" in an "inspired, one-of-a-kind collaboration" between Friedman and Sodikoff.

The 3 Arts Club Cafe is open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays.
