Five Woodlawn Homes Robbed in a Week, All Through the Back Door

HYDE PARK — Police are urging Woodlawn residents to lock their back doors after burglars broke into five homes in a week.

Police reported five burglaries in Woodlawn between Sept. 25 and Friday, all of which involved the burglars getting in through the back door.

The incidents include:

• 8:15 a.m. on Sept. 25 on the 6600 block of South Woodlawn Avenue

• 3 a.m. on Sept. 27 on the 6800 block of South Dorchester Avenue

• Midnight on Sept. 29 on the 700 block of East 65th Street

• 8 p.m. Sept. 29 on the 6600 block of South University Avenue

• 9 a.m. on Friday on the 6600 block of South Ellis Avenue

Police are asking anyone with information about the burglaries to call the Area Central Bureau of Detectives at 312-747-8382.
