Morgan Park Garage Burglar Swiping Garden Tools, Police Say

MORGAN PARK — The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert after a string of four garage burglaries in Morgan Park.

The burglaries all occurred this month, primarily during the day, according to police in the Morgan Park District.

The burglar enters the garages either through an unlocked door or by forcing open a side or overhead door. The robber mostly steals garden tools, police said.

According to police, the incidents occurred:

• Sept. 20 in the 11200 block of South Talman Avenue

• Sept . 21 in the 11600 block of South Artesian Avenue

• Friday in the 2500 block of West 118th Place

• Saturday in the 11600 block of South Artesian Avenue

Police recommend locking all windows and doors to your garage, as well as keeping gates locked and yard fences secure. If anyone has any information about the break-ins, they are encouraged to call the Area South Property Crimes Bureau at 312-747-8273.
