UPTOWN — For the next month, a trip to Uptown Underground may leave you enticed, spooked or possibly even scarred with a roster of entertainment that includes something called 'gore-lesque,' a witch-themed cabaret, illusionists and the Air Sex Championships.

That's right ... the Air Sex Championships, "a hilarious and raunchy competition so singularly remarkable if defies description." It's kind of like air guitar with an imaginary partner(s) instead of a guitar.

The nationally touring road show in its seventh year "combines the pageantry and prestige of sports with creative arts of storytelling, pantomiming and improvisation." The show hosted by comedian Chris Trew begins at 8 p.m. Oct. 25, according to a news release.

The "retrotainment" speakeasy at 4707 N. Broadway will also feature Halloween-themed entertainment ranging "from the spooky to the spectacular, sexy to surprising," plus unique drinks made from local "spirits." The Halloween themed performances for the month include special performances of "No One Here But Us Witches," "Dramageddon" and weekly visits from "The Bewitching Hour," according to the release.

"Every performance is a ready-made Halloween party for our brand of circus arts, fetish and freakshow striptease," said Red Rum, of Pervesk Burlesque, which closes Saturday nights with themed offbeat "Burlesk." "As a performer who combines special effects, make-up artistry and 'gore-lesque' Halloween is a magical time of year for us."

Nightly cover charges range from $5 to $40 and include the night's spooky entertainment. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and performances begin at 8 p.m. The venue is for those 21 and older, but minors are allowed with their parents.
