CHICAGO — Food delivery drivers in Austin should be on the lookout after a string of attempted armed robberies, police said.
The Chicago Police Department issued a business alert after two separate delivery drivers were approached by armed robbers since Sept. 19 in Austin.
Police said the offenders approached the delivery drivers and showed a handgun before demanding money. One was robbed, while the second victim was able to drive away, according to police.
The first incident was around 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 19 in the 5300 block of West Ohio Street, police said. The second incident was around 10 p.m. on Sept. 22 in the 5500 block of West Ohio Street.
Police have said there are three offenders: two black men between 25 and 30 years old, and one black female who is about 5-foot-6 and 200 pounds, police said.
Police said businesses should keep records, including phone numbers, of persons placing orders.
