MORGAN PARK — The seventh annual "Breaking the Leash" dog walk will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Chicago Police Department's Morgan Park District.

The walk begins at the police station at 1900 W. Monterey Ave. and is meant to highlight the link between animal abuse and domestic violence.

Both dogwalkers and non-pet owners are welcome to participate in the walk that will go around the station. A special dog blessing will also be held and representatives from the city's Animal Care and Control Department will be there with dogs available for adoption.

Every dog will receive a purple bandanna. The event will also feature raffles, giveaways and some light refreshments.

For more information, call the Morgan Park Police District Community Policing office at 312-745-0620.
