UKRAINIAN VILLAGE — Neighborhood side streets throughout the city's sprawling 2nd ward will be getting resurfaced by mid-October, Ald. Brian Hopkins announced on Thursday along with a schedule of the road improvements.

"We have our first list of streets to be resurfaced for the 2nd Ward, all of these projects will happen between the end of September and the middle of October," Hopkins wrote in the 1st edition of his new e-newsletter.

Hopkins' e-newsletter will eventually offer eight different editions for the gerrymandered ward which encompasses parts of Streeterville, Southern Gold Coast and Near North, Northern Gold Coast, Old Town, Lincoln Park, Sheffield Neighbors and Ranch Triangle, Noble Square, Wicker Park and Ukrainian and East Village.

Streets first on tap include the 1700 block of Dean Street in Wicker Park; the 1500 block of Blackhawk Street in Noble Square; the 1000 block of Cortez Street in Ukrainian Village; the 2200 block of Leavitt Street in Ukrainian Village.

More street resurfacing will be planned in the spring too.  Second Ward residents who would like to submit their street for resurfacing consideration can email Hopkins' office at  Ward02@cityofchicago.org
