NORTH PARK — It's a super-sized three-day holiday weekend and you know what that means: So much to do you're gonna need to take Tuesday off to recover.

Our top pick is a bike ride that finally unites North Park's and Andersonville's Swedish communities.

Biking Like a Viking sets out at noon Saturday from the campus of North Park University and winds its way to the Swedish American Museum parking lot at Ashland and Foster. Frej the Viking will be on hand for helmet decorating and face painting. Cyclists will then make their way back to the university for lawn games and free ice cream (while supplies last). Meet at 11:45 a.m. at the Old Main Building, 3225 W. Foster Ave. The event will wrap up by 4 p.m.

* These are literally the dog days of summer at August House Studio, where "Dogs We Love: The Canine Exhibit" is running through Sept. 26. The gallery is open 1-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2113 W. Roscoe St.

* Hordes of Chicagoans are sure to flock to the lakefront this weekend. Avoid the crowds and enjoy the city's other waterfront with a paddle along the Chicago River. Kayaks will be available for rent at the River Park boathouse (west side of the river at Argyle Street), noon-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

* Birds are on the move as summer comes to an end. Join Chicago Audubon for a fall migratory bird walk at North Park Village Nature Center. All levels of birding experience welcome. Bring binoculars if you've got 'em. 8-10 a.m. Saturday, 5801 N. Pulaski Road.

* Is yoga right for you? Check out Bloom Yoga Studio's free monthly introductory class. They'll teach a few basic poses and offer an overview of the practice. Pre-registration is recommended. 1:30-2:30 Saturday, 4663 N. Rockwell St.

* The Book Cellar will host singer/guitarist Spencer McCreary for an evening of live music, 5-7 p.m. Saturday, 4736-38 N. Lincoln Ave.

* Nothing screams holiday weekend fun like a property tax appeals workshop. But if you learn how to save some cash, that's something to celebrate. Bring your recent property tax bill and Property Index Number to the Horner Park fieldhouse, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, 2741 W. Montrose Ave. Ald. Deb Mell (33rd) and Cook County Assessor Joe Berrios will be on hand to answer questions.
