8 Wounded in Gun Violence Since Thursday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Eight people were wounded in gun violence across Chicago since Thursday morning, according to police.

• Most recently, a 59-year-old man was shot in his thigh at 2:40 a.m. in Auburn Gresham, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The man was riding his bike in the 8100 block of South Emerald Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain, Sedevic said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, she said.

• A 23-year-old man was shot in his foot in South Shore at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, Sedevic said. He was pumping gas in the 7400 block of South Stony Island Avenue in Greater Grand Crossing when he was shot, Sedevic said. The man took himself to Jackson Park Hospital and is listed in good condition, she said.

• An hour before that, an 18-year-old man was shot in his leg in West Town, Sedevic said. The man was riding his bike in the 2500 block of West Hirsch Street around 9:45 p.m. Thursday when a shots rang out from a passing car, Sedevic said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, she said.

• A 30-year-old man was shot in his left foot at 5:50 p.m. Thursday in Humboldt Park, Sedevic said. The man was outside in the 3300 block of West Huron Street when two shooters walked up, Sedevic said. He was taken to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in good condition, she said.

• Three men were shot in the first block of North Keeler Avenue in Garfield Park around 3 p.m. Thursday, Sedevic said. A 36-year-old man and a 19-year-old man were both shot in the leg and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition, Sedevic said. The last man refused to give his information and also refused medical attention, Sedevic said. The three men were shot when gunfire erupted from a passing car, she said.

• Lastly, a 19-year-old man was shot in his left leg around 11:25 a.m. Thursday, Sedevic said. He was riding his bike in the 3100 block of West Van Buren Street in Garfield Park when he heard shots and felt pain. The man was taken to Mount Sinai in good condition.

No arrests have been made in the cases, Sedevic said.
