BELMONT CRAGIN — An 18-year-old man is dead and a 21-year-old woman is hurt after a shooting in Belmont Cragin Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Around 4:45 p.m., the two were standing in the 6100 block of West Fullerton Avenue when someone walked up and shot at them, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was taken to Loyola Hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound in his chest, Estrada said.

Orlando Calderon, of the 5000 block of West Fullerton Avenue, was pronounced dead at 10 p.m., according to Cook County Medical Examiner's office records.

The woman was taken to Loyola Hospital, where she was in stable condition with a gunshot wound in her leg, according to Estrada.

Police said the man was a documented gang member, and they believe the shooting was gang-related.

No one is in custody, Estrada said.
