CHICAGO — Police are conducting a homicide investigation after a 51-year-old man was discovered unresponsive with a head wound in Irving Park early Monday, police said.

Around 11 a.m. Monday, a man was found unresponsive in the basement of a home in the 3900 block of North Spaulding Avenue, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The man had suffered blunt-force trauma to his head and was pronounced dead at the scene, Sedevic said.

Lloyd A. White, of the same block, was pronounced dead at 1:15 p.m., according to Cook County Medical Examiner's office. His death was ruled a homicide due to multiple "sharp-force" injuries.

Police opened a homicide investigation into the man's death, Sedevic said.
