Five Things To Do Outside: Fire Dancers, $1.31 Scoops of Baskin Robbins

By DNAinfo Staff | August 31, 2015 4:28pm

Here are five things to do outside today:

Jam Out With A Full Moon And Fire Dancers: Meet up with the squad near the Thorndale Red Line stop before taking a serene stroll along some of Edgewater’s best buildings and nature routes on the way to a sweet full moon jam. The jam has it all: Fire dancers, musicians and unabashed picnicking. Bike or walk, jammer’s choice. Meet at Thorndale Red Line, 6:15 p.m., Walk/ride 6:30-7:30 p.m., Free.

Or Jam Out With A Full Moon And Fire Dancers, Hardcore Edition: Albany Park-ers won't be serenely strolling to the lakefront — they'll be pedaling four miles along Lawrence Avenue before meeting up with Edgewater's wimps for the fire dancing, musical jam. Bring bike lights, helmets, locks and water bottles. Meet at Roosevelt High School parking lot, 6:15 p.m., 3436 W. Wilson Ave. Free.

Enjoy Ice Cream before It's Too Cold: Obviously, there's never a bad time for ice cream, but why not enjoy some cheap treats while the weather is still warm. Celebrate 31 years of Baskin Robbins with a scoop for $1.31. Uptown has its fair share of Baskin Robbins distribution points including: 4547 N. Broadway, 5130 N. Broadway, 1441 W. Montrose Ave. and 1743 W. Lawrence Ave. All day.

Get Back to Baseball After Wrigley Field Shows: Sure, you might not have rocked out to the Foo Fighters or danced along with J-Law and Amy Schumer, but you can still see a great show at the Friendly Confines. The Chicago Cubs return to Wrigley Field tonight to take on the Cincinnati Reds, and if you haven't heard, the Cubs are KILLING IT this season. It's freaking gorgeous out today, and there's no better place to enjoy the weather than a ballpark. Grab a Hot Doug's sausage (bleachers only), lean back and soak in one of the best things about summer while you still can. Wrigley Field, 1060 W. Addison St., 7:05 p.m.

Eat Plantains and People Watch on The 606: Much has been written about the Bucktown restaurants east of Western Avenue along the 2.7-mile-long Bloomingdale Trail, but if you get off at the California ramp, there's El Nuevo Borinquin, a small dine-in and takeout restaurant offering a generous portion of six fried plantains for around $2.50 plus juicy jibarito steak sandwiches. Grab dinner to go and then sit on the bench above California and try not to feel like too much of slug watching the joggers run past. El Nuevo Borinquen, 1720 N. California Ave.
