WEST LOOP — Before opening his second West Loop restaurant this fall, Chef John Manion is offering faithful foodies the chance to be the first to try El Che Bar's fare.

Manion, owner of La Sirena Clandestina, will host the El Che Bar preview dinner at La Sirena, 954 W. Fulton Market, at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20. The new Latin restaurant is slated to open at 845 W. Washington Blvd. in November.

Tickets to the preview dinner, a four-course meal featuring food and wine, are $100 per person with tax and gratuity included. Reservations can be made by calling La Sirena Clandestina at 312-226-5300 and are on a first come, first served basis. Patrons will be asked for a credit card number upon booking.

Manion's team will have just returned home from a trip to Argentina ahead of the dinner.

“We’re taking a team trip to Argentina to refresh our senses and create new experiences together as a family, and we’re excited to give our guests a glimpse into those personal stories as well as a preview of what’s to come at El Che Bar,” the chef said.

At El Che Bar, Manion plans to serve up Midwestern fare with a "Latin-local" twist, heavily influenced by his travels in Argentina.

The restaurant will take over the old Check Cab building on Washington.

Plans call for dining room seating for about 100 and a 14-seat bar looking onto 12 feet of flames from a custom grill.
