CHICAGO — A Loyola student was the victim of an armed robbery early Friday morning near the CTA Chicago Red Line station at the Water Tower Campus, according to campus police.

The male student was exiting the Red Line station around 4:30 a.m. Friday when a man approached and implied he had a gun and demanded money, according to an email from Tom Murray, Chief of Police and Director of Campus Safety.

The student withdrew money from a nearby ATM and gave his cellphone to the offender before the offender left the scene, Murray said.

Murray's provided no description of the offender.
