EDGEWATER — In need of a job, or looking to start a new career?
Ald. Harry Osterman, Sen. Heather Steans, Rep. Kelly Cassidy and several statewide hiring organizations are hosting a job fair for the 48th Ward on Sept. 3 at Saint Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, 5639 N. Sheridan Road, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., in an effort to help local residents "connect" with hiring business, as well as brush up on job search basics.
"We heard from a lot of residents that a job fair would be helpful," Osterman said. "We like to think of ourselves as 'connectors,' so our goal is to connect people in our community who are looking for jobs with companies and organizations in need of employees. This is the first time we’re hosting a job fair, and our hope is to build on the event in the future."
A flier for the event tells job-seekers that "business attire" is required for the event, and encourages attendees to bring copies of their current resume to hand out among employers.
