CHICAGO — Robbers who stole a cargo van over the weekend from Irving Park made away with numerous handmade Turkish rugs, police said.

Now, police are warning Irving Park residents to be on the lookout for the illicit selling of those valuable carpets and rugs.

A white, 2013 Ford Econoline 100 van was stolen late Saturday or early Sunday morning near the intersection of Irving Park Road and Kimball Avenue, according to a Chicago Police community alert issued Tuesday.

The van has Texas license plate CLS2133, police said. The offenders are unknown.

Police are asking residents to be on the lookout for the sale of the rugs or for the vehicle in question. If spotted, police are asking residents to call 911 with a description of the vehicle as well as its direction of travel.
