Police Warn of Group of Teenagers Robbing People in Logan Square

LOGAN SQUARE — Police issued a community alert Saturday for a series of robberies committed by teenagers in Logan Square earlier this month.

On Aug. 11 between 9:15 p.m. and 10:17 p.m., the alert said, three robberies were reported within about an hour in the 3200 and 3300 blocks of West Altgeld Street.

In all cases, police said, a girl attempted to grab the victim's cell phone while a group of boys surrounded the victim. In one case, the boys beat the victim.

Police described the girl as black, 13-14 years old, 5 feet 2 inches tall and about 100 pounds with her hair in braids.

Police described the other robbers as three to five black boys between the ages of 16 and 17 of average height and weight.
