BRIGHTON PARK — A 35-year-old man is dead and a 26-year-old woman is hurt following a shooting in Brighton Park Saturday night, police said.
Around 9:30 p.m., police responded to a call of a person shot and found the man unresponsive in the 4000 block of South Albany Park Avenue with a gunshot wound in his upper right chest, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where doctors later pronounced him dead, Sedevic said.
The woman said she was sitting on her porch nearby when she heard the shots and felt pain, Sedevic said. She was treated on scene for a graze wound in her right thigh.
Police said the man was a documented gang member.
No one is in custody, Sedevic said.
