CHICAGO — One woman has been killed and 13 people were wounded in shootings since Thursday morning, police say.

A 23-year-old woman was shot three times, killing her, by a security guard in Austin early Friday, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The gunfire erupted after a man who was in a car with the woman fired at another car and then fired at the security guard, Sedevic said.

Most recently, a 34-year-old woman was inside her home in Morgan Park when shots came through her window, injuring her, Sedevic said.

• At 10:05 p.m. Thursday, a man used his concealed weapon to thwart a would-be armed robbery in Englewood, Sedevic said. The man, who was injured during the incident, shot one of two attempted thieves in the chest, Sedevic said.

• At 10 p.m., a 19-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 4800 block of West Jackson Boulevard in Austin when a white sedan drove past and someone inside fired shots, Sedevic said. The victim was shot in the left side of his chest and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Sedevic said.

The victim is a documented gang member, police said.

• At 9:45 p.m., a 22-year-old man was sitting on the back porch of a home in the 9500 block of South Woodlawn Avenue in Burnside when he heard shots and felt pain, Sedevic said. The man was shot in his leg and taken to Advocate Christ Medical center in good condition, Sedevic said.

• At 9:45 p.m., a teenage boy was standing outside in Englewood when he was shot in the mouth, Sedevic said.

•  At 5:29 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in his back in Englewood, leaving him in critical condition, Sedevic said.

The victim is a documented gang member, police said.

•  At 2:20 p.m., a 25-year-old man was outside in the 4900 block of West Crystal Street in Austin when men on bikes rode up to him, fired at him and then took off on their bikes, Sedevic said. The victim was shot in his chest and taken by someone to West Suburban Hospital, but was then transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical but stable condition, Sedevic said.

The victim is a documented gang member, police said.

•  At 1:54 p.m., two men were shot in the 900 block of North Winchester Avenue in East Village, said Officer Bari Lemmon, Chicago Police spokeswoman. The shooting appeared to be a drug-related incident.

• At 10:10 a.m., a 25-year-old man was injured in a drive-by in Englewood, Sedevic said.

The incident is possibly gang-related, police said.
