HYDE PARK — Jazz drummer Terri Lyne Carrington is getting a big blowout on Oakwood Beach Saturday for her 50th birthday.

The Little Black Pearl will honor Grammy Award-winning drummer and producer Saturday during Pearl Fest Jazz Festival.

The annual fundraiser and jazz concert to benefit the Kenwood art center will start 11 a.m. with performances by Oleta Adams, Jaguar Wright, Jose Jones and Carrington.

This year’s festival is a return to Oakwood Beach for Carrington, a close friend of Little Black Pearl Executive Director Monica Haslip and a collaborator on the art center’s music programs.

Carrington played the 2014 Pearl Fest and organizers said they are expecting 10,000 people to come out for her return.

Local guest artists and youth activities are also planned for the festival, which ends at 9 p.m.

Admission is free and open to the public, but preferred seating and access to food and beer vendors is $20.

A $125 VIP Experience ticket is available that provides access to a VIP tent with food and beer from Miller Coors.

A $500 VIP Cabana Experience ticket provides access to a beach cabana and the VIP tent, bottle service, private wait staff, a five-course tasting menu, open bar and a reception with the performers.

For a full list of ticket options, visit the Little Black Pearl’s website.
