HYDE PARK — Three people were shot Friday night on the edge of Hyde Park and Woodlawn near the University of Chicago campus.

Three people, including two teens, were wounded in the 6100 block of South Kimbark Avenue in Woodlawn around 7:30 p.m., said Officer Nicole Trainor, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The group was standing outside when someone fired shots from a vehicle, Trainor said.

A 15-year-old boy was shot in his left hand and taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. A 16-year-old boy was shot in his neck and taken in Stroger Hospital in serious condition.

A 24-year-old was shot twice in his abdomen and taken to Northwestern Hospital in serious condition, Trainor said.

A "person of interest" was being questioned in the shooting, Trainor said.

Police said the three victims are documented gang members.
