GRAND CROSSING — New Life Covenant Church will begin registration for its new day care center on Aug. 24.

The South Side church, which is led by the Rev. John Hannah, broke ground in September on a new $26 million church for its 19,000 members. The 100,000-square-foot church will be built at 7600 S. Greenwood Ave.

The $4 million child care center at 7522 S. Greenwood Ave. will be across the street from the new church in what was once a factory. It will be redeveloped into a 40,000-square-foot early learning center that is slated to open in January.

"This will be more than a church and early learning center, but a place where the community can come for resources," Hannah said. "This blessing from God belongs to all of us."

Grand Crossing Kid Care will have open enrollment for all students (infants, toddlers, preschoolers and kindergartners) this month. Those who enroll early will receive 50 percent off their registration fee. Parents can sign up their children from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 24-25 and from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 26.
