WICKER PARK —  Though it's likely to be an offer that won't apply to many, fans still sporting a Hot Doug's tattoo honoring the iconic and closed joint can get a free Atomic Pizza on Tuesday at Piece in Wicker Park.

Located at 1927 W. North Ave., Piece Brewery and Pizzeria is offering a free Atomic Pizza to eaters that show their Hot Doug's tattoo to a server, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.  The ink also entitles fans to half off of Atomic Pizza "forever," according to an ad.

First introduced in March and added permanently to Piece's menu last month, the pie features Sohn's signature (and spicy) Atomic sausage, caramelized onions and pepper jack cheese.

Since Hot Doug's closed in October at 3324 N. California Ave., chef Doug Sohn has been enjoying a self-described sabbatical, traveling and catching up with friends as well as podcasting, hosting a summer festival and getting his sausages on the menu at Wrigley Field.

When Hot Doug's was open in Avondale, Sohn rewarded those fans who got tattoos with free sausages. But when he announced that his shop would be closing, Sohn suggested in a tweet "don’t get a Hot Doug's tattoo any time soon."
