Stand Up To Cancer

MAGNIFICENT MILE — Chicago's own Ta'Rhonda Jones, who plays the scene-stealing Porsha in FOX's "Empire," was among those who attended a cancer benefit Thursday at Water Tower Place.

The event at Chico's Boutique, 835 N. Michigan Ave., debuted a new Sheila Johnson-designed scarf whose proceeds in part will go to Stand Up To Cancer. The benefit, in which $10 from each scarf sale will go to the charity, will last till Oct. 31 or until $100,000 is raised.

The 26-year-old Auburn Gresham native, who broke out as a star of the surprise hit series, is a self-described "stylist, designer, and rapper," according to her Instagram profile. The next season of "Empire," which films in New York and Chicago, debuts Sept. 23
