LITTLE VILLAGE — A Cook County corrections officer was shot in his leg on his way home from work Monday night, according to police and media reports.

At about 10:25 p.m., the 37-year-old man was in an alley on the 2800 block of South Tripp Avenue when a dark minivan pulled up and someone inside fired shots, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was in stable condition, Pacheco said.

The officer was shot outside his mother's house while he was still in his uniform, according to the Chicago Tribune, and his son was with him.
