PULLMAN — A new Advocate Medical Group practice opened in Pullman Thursday — joining a bustling retail complex that includes a Wal-Mart.

Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives and Ald. Anthony Beale (9th) welcomed the state’s largest healthcare system to the neighborhood.

“We actively sought out service providers that could assist in closing any potential gaps or barriers to healthcare access and availability in our community,” Beale said.

“I found that Advocate and I share a commitment to improving the lives of those in need, and the new outpatient facility will develop community health programs that will address the unique health needs for Pullman/Roseland residents.”

The 4,000 square-foot center is located in Pullman Park at 111th St. and the Bishop Ford Expressway. Patients will be offered treatment for a variety of minor injuries and illnesses. The state-of-the-art facility, officials said in a press release, was "designed to support minimal wait times and optimal service levels for individuals seeking care."

The $1.8 million Advocate Medical Group practice will add to the ongoing revitalization of Pullman. In 2013, Wal-Mart opened in the development, which also includes a sports complex. Method Products, an environmentally-friendly cleaning products manufacturer, just opened in April. New homes are being built on an entire block in Pullman, among other developments in the area.

Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives president David Doig, who is the site’s developer, said that the outpatient facility "completes the circle."

“It is appropriate that Pullman is the site of Advocate’s new medical group practice,” he said

“Together this community is rebuilding the housing, attracting the companies, strengthening education, retail and transportation. The creation of this center both celebrates what we have accomplished and paves the way for the future.”

Advocate Medical Group’s president, James R. Dan, said he’s looking forward to working with Beale and residents of both Roseland and Pullman.

“We are very fortunate and pleased that we can now call Pullman home,” Dan said. “The new space allows us to bring the unique discipline of Advocate Health Care to Pullman and serve the health needs of individuals, families and the community through a holistic philosophy.”
