CHICAGO — A man who was released from prison in 2012 after wrongfully spending 17 years behind bars was fatally shot on the Near West Side Tuesday, according to police and news reports.

Alprentiss Nash, 40, died from multiple gunshot wounds after being shot around 2:20 p.m. in the 1600 block of West Van Buren Street, officials said.

ABC-7 reports that Nash was killed during an armed robbery.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Pacheco said.

No one is in custody for the shooting and police had no further details available.
