NORWOOD PARK — A number of classes and activities for seniors are scheduled for August at Mather's More Than a Cafe.
In addition to breakfast, lunch and carryout meals, Mather's offers adults older than 50 educational classes, fitness classes, health screenings, consumer seminars, workshops and special events and day trips. The cafe is located at 7134 W. Higgins Ave.
Events scheduled for August include:
• Make a Mobile: Laurey Fisher will help attendees create a mobile for display either indoors or outside. Fisher will provide step-by-step instructions and individual attention throughout the process starting at 1 p.m. Aug. 12. All supplies will be provided. A donation of $15 is suggested. Registration is required.
• Dinner Theater: The Rat Pack: Soprano Heather Braoudakis will bring the songs of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. like “Luck Be a Lady,” “Volare” and “That Old Black Magic” back to life. In addition, the group's history will be detailed at the event on Aug. 14. Dinner is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m., followed by the show at 5:30 p.m. The meal is $11.50, and a donation of $8 is suggested for the entertainment. Registration is required.
• Drop and Swap: Attendees can bring their clean, gently used goods to swap from 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 21. Registration is required to offfer items for trade, but all are welcome to browse. Perishable items are not allowed, and all items must be picked up on the day of the event.
