Blackhawks Melted and Saved the Stanley Cup Ice -- Now, What to Do With It?

CHICAGO — The Blackhawks are selling their home ice.

No, the United Center isn't going anywhere. The Hawks just decided to melt down the ice and sell bottles off the stuff as a souvenir item. The proceeds will go to Blackhawks charities, according to a post from the team.

No price has been announced.

The Blackhawks won their third Stanley Cup in six years this June. Those other times, they won the cup while traveling; this year's victory was the first time the Hawks have won the cup on home ice in 77 years. So, this ice is a little more special than that stuff you make in a tray at home.

The Blackhawks took to Twitter to ask fans what their "goal" for the championship ice is. You can tell the team what you'd do with the ice by tweeting with the hashtag #MyIceGoal.
