COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — Prosecutors said an Austin man responded to a Facebook ad selling a MacBook earlier this month — only to attack the owner and steal the computer.

Stephen Tucker, 19, was arrested Tuesday after the victim showed police a screenshot of Tucker's Facebook profile, Assistant State's Attorney Lorraine Scaduto said during a bond hearing Thursday.

The incident happened about 6 p.m. on July 6 after Tucker agreed to meet with the 24-year-old seller in the 5500 block of West Race Avenue, court records show.

The seller had posted an ad on Facebook selling a 2011 Apple MacBook Pro, prosecutors said.

When he and a 22-year-old friend met with Tucker that evening, Tucker attacked the pair and ran away with the laptop, according to an arrest report.

Both victims chased Tucker, prosecutors said, and Tucker flashed a dark object that could've been a gun. Tucker got away, but was arrested Tuesday following a police investigation.

Tucker admitted to officers that he took the laptop and ran, but denies hitting the victim, Scaduto said.

Tucker, of the 500 block of North Laramie Avenue, was charged with aggravated robbery while indicating a firearm or weapon.

On Thursday, Cook County Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. ordered Tucker held in lieu of $450,000 bail.
