WEST LOOP — A fundraiser that aims to raise money for a West Loop dog park is inviting the neighborhood's four-legged friends to join in on the fun Saturday.

The Mary Bartelme Park Advisory Council is hosting Dog Day Afternoon, a fundraiser for the park's designated dog area, from 1-6 p.m. Saturday at Chicago Party Animals, an event space at 1133 W. Fulton Market.

At Dog Day Afternoon, pet owners and their pups can participate in a doggie costume contest, enjoy tasty treats from local food trucks, sip on beer and wine, shop local vendors and enjoy live music at the family-friendly event.

Tickets, for sale online, are $25 and include two drink tickets. Tickets are available for $30 cash at the door Saturday.

All proceeds from the event will be used to improve Mary Bartelme Park's dog park.

The fundraiser is sponsored by Paw Naturals, Animal Care Center of Chicago, Tucker Pup's Pet Resort, Haymarket Pub & Brewery, CUBS Radio 780, Title Boxing Club and a handful of other local businesses.

West Loop Veterinary Care also hosts a pet parade and costume contest in Bartelme Park in October.
