CHICAGO — A hot and humid day in Chicago will continue into Saturday night, and severe storms will be moving into the area, according to the National Weather Service.

Chicago is under a heat advisory until 8 p.m. The National Weather Service also forecasts strong thunderstorms with wind gusts up to a possible 50 miles per hour. A weather station at Edgewater Beach recorded a gust up at 47.4 miles per hour earlier today.

The agency also predicts torrential rainfall which may lead to flash flooding. It advises drivers to not drive through flooded roadways.

The agency issued a tornado watch for the Chicago area until 10 p.m. Saturday.

Meanwhile, Pitchfork Music Festival, which is happening in Union Park this weekend, was briefly evacuated after a storm drenched festgoers. The gates were opened less than 30 minutes after people were evacuated.
