5 Things To Do Outside Today: Shop Late Along the 606, Walk a Tightrope

CHICAGO —It might rain again this afternoon. And it's sorta chilly. But we have some outside options for you thick-skinned Chicagoans who won't let some unseasonably cool temps keep you out of the pool.

1. Party by the Pool at Kennedy Park: South Side favorites Joey, Diggs & The Dentist will perform poolside tonight in Morgan Park. Everyone is welcome to hang in the pool while listening to the local cover band. The only rule: No Cannonballs next to the amp! From 7 to 9 p.m. at Kennedy Park, 11320 S. Western Ave. Free.

2. Learn to Walk a Tightrope: Part of the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce’s “Family Nights” schedule, the CircEsteem troupe will be teaching families how to balance on a wire, walk a tightrope, juggle, spin plates and more. As always, the first 75 guests get free frozen custard from Edgewater’s own Lickity Split, so don’t be late! Broadway Armory Parking Lot, 5917 North Broadway, 6:30 p.m., Free.

3. Movies in the Park: Watch the 2014 local sports drama "When the Game Stands Tall" outside at Ogden Park. The film tells the story of Bob Ladouceur, a legendary football coach, who led the De La Salle High School Spartans to a 151-game winning streak. The 115 minute film will run from starts around 8:30 p.m. at Ogden Park, 6500 S. Racine Ave. Free.

4.  Enjoy Cocktails, Deals Off Damen’s 606 Ramp:  A coalition of boutiques, dubbed #shopNOTT (North Of The Trail) are staying open until 8 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month so folks can hop off the Bloomingdale Trail at Damen. Havlan & West will give away a free bottle of Citizens of Humanity nail polish with any jean purchase, while Pistil & Vine will offer complimentary refreshments. Along 1800 the 1900 blocks of North Damen Avenue, look for “NOTT” signs in windows, 6 to 8 p.m. Free.

5. Compete in Sidewalk Corn Hole (or Bags): No backyard? No problem! Play a few rounds of bags on the sidewalk in front of a Bucktown jewelry shop as part of their family-friendly “Sacks and Smoothies” night. There will be free fresh fruit smoothies too! From 4 to 7 p.m. at Radiance Fine Jewelry, 2139 N. Damen Ave. Free.
