Albany Park's Annual Restaurant Crawl Expands to Week-Long Food Fest

ALBANY PARK — One night was just not enough time for foodies to eat their way through Albany Park, so organizers of the neighborhood's annual Bon Appétit restaurant crawl have expanded the event into a full-blown restaurant week.

Kicking off July 22 and running through July 26, the five-day food fest will take diners on a global tour of cuisines ranging from Middle Eastern to Eastern European, Asian to Latin and all points in between, including good old pizza and hot dogs.

Sample Bulgarian shopska salad at Beograd Cafe, qebapa sausages at Brisku's Bistro, ceviche at Tortuga's Cantina, bibimbap at Cafe Orient 33 and the kabob/hummus/falafel/shawerma platter at Salam. Then wash it all down with a craft beer flight at Templestowe Pub.

Burn off calories by walking from site to site: The 25 participating restaurants are spread throughout Albany Park, Irving Park, Mayfair and North Park.

Cost of the offerings varies. At Hot Dog Station, $5 will get you a Chicago-style dog, French fries and a beverage. On the opposite end of the scale, Marie's Pizza is serving up a large salad, large pizza and mini dessert sampler for $37.

Most of the three-course Bon Appétit menus fall somewhere in the $10 to $20 range.

Ask for “the Bon Appétit special menu” when you order.
