HUMBOLDT PARK — The 15th Barrio Arts Fest brings a celebration of music, culture and family-friendly workshops to Humboldt Park this weekend.

The annual National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture event kicks off Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., celebrating the museum’s grand opening after an extensive reconstruction of the former Humboldt Park stables.

Each year the Barrio Arts Fest features local artists and public workshops. This year, Puerto Rican artist Edgardo Larregui and Architreasures will present their Family Mural Project. The event also includes traditional bomba dancing by AfriCaribe and a performance by Conjunto FUACATA.

Barrio Arts Fest is open to all ages and is presented by the National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture, 3015 West Division St., “a cultural and educational institution devoted to the promotion, integration and advancement of Puerto Rican arts and culture by presenting exhibitions and programming created to enhance the visibility and importance of the rich Puerto Rican traditions.”
