MAGNIFICENT MILE — A new festival showcasing more than 100 artists is coming to Michigan Avenue.

The inaugural Artfest Michigan Avenue will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Pioneer Court, 401 N. Michigan Ave. The festival will continue from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. The free festival coincides with the end of this year's Taste of Chicago nearby.

"Michigan Avenue is one of the truly great streets in the world," said Amy Amdur of Amdur Productions, which is hosting the event. "This is our high tourist time and I think [the fest] gives tourists just another experience at Michigan Avenue."

The festival will feature 118 artists from across the country showing their pieces including paintings, drawings, photographs, jewelry, furniture and sculpture. The art will be for sale, and some artists will be honing their craft on-site, Amdur said.

The festival will also include live music. Highland Park-based Amdur also is behind other local art festivals including the Gold Coast Art Fair in Grant Park and the Chicago Botanic Art Festival.
