PILSEN — A second farmers market in Pilsen will officially open on 18th Street this week.

The Pilsen Night Market, one of the city's two new farmers markets this season, will open for the season Wednesday at 18th Street & Blue Island Avenue. The market will be open from 4-8 p.m. every Wednesday through Sept. 2, according to city officials.

The Pilsen Night Market will sell fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers and other farmers market staples.

The night market is offered in addition to the Pilsen Community Market, which operates outdoors from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sundays May 31-Oct. 25.

“With the increased number of markets city-wide, more of our residents and families will be able to purchase wholesome foods, while also supporting the region’s farms and food producers," Mayor Rahm Emanuel said in a statement.

All City of Chicago-managed market locations accept LINK and will distribute double value coupons with every LINK purchase.

In addition to the new Pilsen Night Market, Chicago debuted a new market at Martin Luther King Drive & 26th Street in Bronzeville this season.

A complete list of Chicago farmers markets can be found online.
