Local Filmmakers Get Time in Spotlight with Movies in the Parks Showcase

CHICAGO — Local filmmakers will have their work shown at the Park District's Chicago Onscreen Local Film Showcase.

Eighteen films made by Chicagoans will be shown at city parks starting Sunday and running every week until Aug. 9. The films were submitted and then reviewed by members of the film community and the Park District.

The screenings are outdoors, weather permitting, and are free. Films start at dusk.

The showcase, which started last year, is part of Movies in the Parks.

Schedule:

July 12

"The Curse of the Tempest Jewel" with "Private Eye" at Norwood Park, 5801 N. Natoma Ave.

July 19

"An Entirely Ordinary Individual," "Dissolve," "Possessed by Paul James — Hurricane," "The Man," "Two Cents," "Knock," "Toy Car," "Elsewhere the Survivors" and "Common Decency" at Revere Park, 2509 W. Irving Park Road.

July 26

"Love & Capitalism, Parts 1 & 2" and "South Chicago: In Progress" with "Come to Light" and "Redmoon Summer Park Series" at Russell Square Park, 3045 E. 83rd St.

"An Entirely Ordinary Individual," "Dissolve," "Possessed by Paul James — Hurricane," "The Man," "Two Cents," "Knock," "Toy Car," "Elsewhere the Survivors" and "Common Decency" at Union Park, 1501 W. Randolph St.

Aug. 2

"The Curse of the Tempest Jewel" with "Private Eye" at McGuane Park, 2901 S. Poplar Ave.

"Love & Capitalism, Parts 1 & 2" and "South Chicago: In Progress" with "Come to Light" and "Redmoon Summer Park Series" at Loyola Park, 1230 W. Greenleaf Ave.

Aug. 9

"Love & Capitalism, Parts 1 & 2" indoor, daytime screening with workshop and "An Entirely Ordinary Individual," "Dissolve," "Offsides," "Two Cents," "Come to Light" and "Get Involved" outdoor screenings at Lake Shore Park, 808 N. Lake Shore Drive.
