NORTH LAWNDALE — A man died Sunday after being intentionally run over by a woman driving a minivan, officials said Monday.

John Perry, 27, of the 400 block of West 65th Place in Englewood, was involved in a "verbal and physical" fight with a 23-year-old woman early Sunday morning in the 1100 block of South Francisco Avenue in North Lawndale, according to Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.

At about 5 a.m., Sweeney said, the woman climbed into a minivan and drove it into Perry, who was standing on the sidewalk.

Perry was taken to Mount Sinai hospital where he was pronounced dead, having suffocated under the weight of the car, officials said.

Police are investigating the incident, Sweeney said, but officials could not confirm whether the woman is in custody.
