ESPN is Next for Comcast's Jen Lada ... But She Wants to Find Her Dog First

CHICAGO — Jen Lada was supposed to be in Bristol, Conn., on Monday, preparing for a dream job at ESPN.

But the former Comcast SportsNet Chicago anchor instead spent Monday canvassing North Center with 100 fliers looking for her lost 11-year-old Jack Russell terrier mix, Wrigley.

"We would obviously love to find him," Lada told DNAinfo Monday afternoon. "It has limited the ability to celebrate this next big step in my life."

In June, Lada learned she had been hired to join ESPN as a contributor on Colin Cowherd’s radio show, which is televised. Lada, who starts July 13, also will make appearances on SportsCenter, she said.

But as movers were taking her belongings from her residence near Damen and Wellington avenues Monday, June 29, Wrigley escaped out the front door. With no place to live, Lada has been staying at her parents' home in suburban McHenry as she's commuted back to Chicago to look for Wrigley. On Thursday, she also blanketed her former neighborhood with 100 fliers.

Lada also has posted updates — and received tips — on her Twitter account. She said she's received tips from three separate people saying Wrigley was seen with a man walking him.

"It seems like someone is walking him around the neighborhood," Lada said.

Lada said Wrigley escaped wearing a black collar and a red bandana, but the three tipsters who saw the dog with the walker said that dog didn't have either.

Wrigley has been a part of Lada's life since he was a puppy during her time in Rockford.

"He's very quick, he's very friendly, he's very energetic," Lada said of Wrigley. "He's followed the arc of my career in Rockford, then to Milwaukee and to Chicago. We were hoping he would come along on our adventure to ESPN.

"Anyone who has a dog — they're part of your family. I certainly don't want to move forward and leave him behind."

Lada said tips can be sent to her on Twitter or via email at jencheers4@yahoo.com.
