CHICAGO — Police are questioning a person of interest in the acid attack that injured four people, including two toddlers, on Friday afternoon, police said.
The incident happened about 4:30 p.m. in the 4800 block of West Concord Place. Someone involved in a verbal argument became angry and threw "an unknown caustic substance" at four people, police said.
A 34-year-old man was struck in his chest, back and face and a 39-year-old woman sustained burns to her right arm, according to police. Both adults were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Two toddlers were also injured and treated at Stroger Hospital: a 1-year-old boy who was hit with the acid on his left arm, and a 2-year-old girl who was burned on her chest, leg, left hand and stomach. The children's conditions had stabilized Saturday, according to police.
Police believe the incident was domestic-related and were questioning a person of interest Saturday morning.
